Barnegat and surrounding Ocean County offer an extensive array of parks and recreational areas for residents to enjoy. Whether you are seeking new and safe playgrounds for younger children, or challenging hiking and walking trails, the recreational amenities in the area will not disappoint! 

The Atlantic Ocean is always ready to serve as a relaxing source for boating, fishing, surfing and swimming enjoyment. We have listed a few favored parks that are just a short drive from the Manors at Freedom Hills:

Barnegat Lighthouse State Park  - The towering 172-foot lighthouse marks the entrance to the Barnegat Inlet. The park offers picnic areas, a small boat launch, bathhouse, nature room, playground, fishing, hunting and a nearby museum. www.stateparks.com/barnegat_lighthouse.html

Island Beach State Park - Island Beach State Park is on a barrier island between the Atlantic Ocean and Barnegat Bay. It is 3,002 acres and features swimming, fishing, canoeing and miles of hiking trails.

Wells Mills County Park (Waretown) - 910 acres featuring nature center, hiking, biking, canoeing, fishing, playing fields, picnic area and large playground for toddlers and older children.

Six Flags Great Adventure Theme Park, Six Flags Wild Safari Animal Park and Hurricane Harbor - Heart pounding rides, blockbuster live action shows, water adventures and exciting family rides are featured at this 125-acre theme park. Enjoy Great rides like Batman and Robin: The Chiller and the Great American Scream Machine. Visit the drive thru Safari adjacent to the theme park. The 350-acre preserve is home to more than 1,200 wild animals roaming freely. Located just off I-195 Exit 16A.

Tuckerton Seaport   - This authentic working seaport village interprets the rich maritime past of the region. Visit the 40-acre site, meet decoy carvers, boat builders and demonstrators. Board the Crystal Queen riverboat for a trip on Tuckerton Creekwww.tuckertonseaport.org
